Ry'Ann Stephenson Obituary

Ry’Ann Lynn ‘The Queen’ Stephenson known by her family and friends as Ry or RyRy. She was born on August 12th, 2012 in Superior Township, MI and was born to the union of Nicole McGuire and Ricky Stephenson. Ry’Ann loved sports and cherished being around her friends and family. She enjoyed drawing and writing poems, and she loved Jesus deeply. Although many have not got to witness Ry’Ann could sing her butt off. Her favorite artist was Alicia Keys, the song of her choice was Girl on Fire. Ry’Ann showed this through her uplifting, encouraging others and standing up for others. She was a light in every room she entered and never hesitated to tell you exactly what was on her mind. Ry’Ann loved to tell jokes, and you could always count on her to have the last word—no matter what.
She was rarely seen without her signature headband.
Ry’Ann attended Early Childhood Education Center (preschool), Rawsonville Elementary (K-3rd grade), Edgemont Elementary (4th grade), Owen Intermediate (5th grade- part of 6th grade) and lastly Lincoln Middle School (remainder of 6th grade-present day). Throughout each grade Ry’Ann had been on the honor roll, received many awards for various achievements and accomplishments.
Ry’Ann played many sports throughout her life. Her sports journey started with The Belleville Wrestling Club for 2 years. She made them boys cry because she would beat them. She competed in AAU track and field with the Ann Arbor Track Club and was a three-time Junior Olympian. Her dedication and talent set her apart at an early age.
At Lincoln Middle School, Ry’Ann was a record holder in the 4x100 relay, 4x200 relay, long jump, and the 400 meters. She was recognized as the 2025 Middle School 400M Award recipient and was also named Middle School Long Jumper of the Year in 2025.
In addition to track and field, Ry’Ann played flag football for the Great Lakes Flag Football League. Known for being as fast as lightning, she was a fierce rusher who helped lead her team to win and was always able to get to the quarterback like no other. She earned a place on the Stealth Team, which recognizes the league’s top athletes.
She also was the Vice President of Lincoln Middle schools student Council. She had remarkable grades in all subjects.
The Belleville and Lincoln communities were a big part of RyAnn’s life. Through sports and friendships, she built lasting connections and developed skills that will always be remembered. Ry’Ann is still helping others even though she is gone by being an organ donor through gift of life. Her kindness, love and legacy continues to go on.
